Lactation Support

I’m a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) providing breastfeeding / chestfeeding support to families in NYC, and remote support anywhere!

To support your success, I offer the following lactation counselor services.

Prepare (included in my birth doula services):

A private lesson for pregnant folks who want to begin their lactation education before their baby arrives. Learn about the different stages of milk production and what to expect, tips for engorgement, how to identify early feeding cues (hint: they happen before the baby starts crying), what a good latch looks and feels like, and various positions and holds you might want to try. *If you book a “Prepare” session, I offer a “Tiny Newborn” follow-up session at a discounted rate. Lessons usually last 1 - 1.5 hours.

Tiny Newborn:

Book a session for 1-3 days after your baby is born to make sure you’re starting off on the right foot! This is a great way to avoid many of the common issues that arise in early breastfeeding/chestfeeding. I’ll help make sure your baby is latching well and transferring milk, help you understand your baby’s feeding cues, teach you how to hand express (recommended by the World Health Organization as the preferred method of collecting milk), and help you figure out which nursing position(s) best support your particular situation (this can be especially helpful if you’ve had a Cesarean birth). This session can be done in the hospital or in your home and includes resources and referrals as needed. Consults usually last 1-2 hours.

Lactation Support:

Private, in-home consults for breastfeeding/chestfeeding parents who are experiencing difficulty (pain, engorgement, concerns about supply (over or under), a baby having difficulty latching, etc.) or who just want a professional to make sure everything is okay. Includes resources and referrals as needed. Consults usually last 1-2 hours.

*Please note: a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) is not the same as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). IBCLCs deal with more significant/severe issues, and if it seems like you would be better served by seeing an IBCLC, I will refer you to the appropriate level of care.
